This is the only democracy in Middle East. I was born in Colombia and I was raised in a cultural mixture of backgrounds. My grandmothers were strong women, and had to battle the rudeness of latin macho culture. Both daughters of inmigrants , german and italian, they were outsiders.
I had the opportunity to study, they didn´t even finish primary school. Due to the fact that I was talented with logical intelligence, my results were always outstanding in school. And that was an issue, why is this tall girl having better grades than the male student population? I was bullyied from 2nd grade until Igraduated from high school. Once a course promotion to a higher level was cancelled because althoght having the highest score, they could leave the boys behind.
At the university, well, I was the 12th student of 100 and .... the head of the class of the female population. I had to work harder, I was questioned more, I had to try to be physically stronger (failed jajajaj). But the facing of the challenge came with work.
I had to behave as a male to be respected. I became harsh, agressive and smarter. And when I was harrassed I had to be explosive, so that it never happened again.
Life is hard in Middle East, there is no natural resources as in Colombia: water, fuel, food, housing. Both places lack of peace, but here there is a awareness of the importance of sexual harrassment. Women are strong, defensive and respected. I will want to stay, no one is harsh on you twice because you have to power to say "Leave me alone". You don.t have to fight daily, there is no persecussion because you are a woman. And I am learning Israeli Martian Arts, so I will become totally powerfull...
