I visited Cusco and I knew a lot of cultural trades, due to the fact that the Inca Empire reached Colombia too. We were different tribes sharing the same land from Alaska to Argentina.
But we lost our civilizations, I never learned their languages and know little about their culture.
My grandfather lost his heritage. His last names were given by conquerors, as happened to african americans were they were slaved: Gonzalez Maury, He was a true aborigen, from the Caribbean Family. His tribe was the Mocanas. His ancestors were cannibals.
My grandmother mother was indigenous too. Wayuu, from the Guajira Peninsula. They fought Spaniards, traded with dutch, survived two civil wars and right now fight the abandonment of the government, that wants them to starve.
I am proud of my aborigen past.
